One of the most difficult times of my life was when my son was struggling to speak. He would become extremely upset because of his eagerness to talk. I spent a lot of time helping my son to talk, and now I want to use my knowledge to help other children. I'm currently offering language consultations to the parents of pre-school children. Please email info@aspirehigh.org for move information.

Autism and Breastfeeding
This picture was taken in September 2018 a few weeks after I stopped breastfeeding Isaac. I breastfed Isaac until he was 18 months old and I wish that I had been able to continue for longer. Breast milk contains a substance called alpha-lactalbumin which 'causes macroautophagy' helping the body to clean out damaged cells and regenerate healthy new cells. According to a study published in Neuron, Autistic people have problems with Autophagy which causes issues with social interaction. There are a number of ways to induce autophagy including exercise, fasting, green tea and ketosis. However, exercise is the only suitable option for children (in my opinion).

Update on Painting Therapy
Further to my previous post about Painting Therapy I tried to encourage Isaac to do painting at home but he prefers using brightly coloured highlighters to colour in his colouring book. Since starting the colouring activity Isaac has become more sociable with other children and he seems to be less anxious. When I take him to the park he walks over to other children and tries to interact with them. He joins in when other children are playing football but he isn't comfortable with making conversation. Overall, the colouring activity seems to have had a positive impact on Isaac's social interactions.

Painting Therapy
Isaac sometimes ignores people when they speak to him and I'm concerned that this might cause problems when he starts school in September. I've been looking into ways to help to improve his social interaction and I came across a study published in the Indian Journal of Psychiatry which found that children who received 12 sessions of painting therapy had improved social interactions. I was delighted to learn about the benefits of Painting Therapy because I have a passion for art. I did Art and Design GCSE back in high school so I plan to use my knowledge to help Isaac to express his creativity.
